However, I have a question about the exposed material. You were explaining how to replace services with Alarms and Intent Receivers for periodical polling tasks. This is at about 47:30 in the video and the slide number from the presentation is 69. In that slide You use the onReceiver method of MyReceiver to start the service. Is there any reason why the AsyncTask for polling (or whatever) is not used directly in that method since the point of the exercise is to remove the service completely?
Thank you for your time.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09798628053667647667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10735231.post-54375178126715145962010-06-03T20:45:57.781+01:002010-06-03T20:45:57.781+01:00Shifting to a "best practices" was a ver...Shifting to a "best practices" was a very good idea. I enjoyed the video and will be watching it again.

I'm currently reading your book on Tim Bray's recommendation. Thanks a lot for the app surgeries, they're like mini-masterclasses and extremely useful. You're doing a great job as dev advocate, IMO.

I'm looking forward to checking out the twitter app's source code once it's released and gleaning more best practices from it.Moandji Ezanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01507510837237294496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10735231.post-71452824531956539542010-06-02T21:27:22.007+01:002010-06-02T21:27:22.007+01:00'download the slides' link is broken'download the slides' link is brokenDavid Shellabargerhttp://www.goldfishview.comnoreply@blogger.com
